Master D. S. Shinn is a 6th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo with 25 years of experience.

Master Shinn is a former U.S. Collegiate National Champion. He was a finalist in the 1988 Olympic Trials. In November of 1988 he was voted the National Collegiate Coach of the year. He is the youngest recipient of this award.

Master Shinn established the University of Missouri-Rolla Taekwondo Club and was the head instructor for 7 years. He spent 16 months at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs as a permanent resident athlete to prepare for the 1988 Olympics.

Currently, Master Shinn is tournament director of the Great Lakes Cup tournament which is held in Lansing, Michigan every year during the month of June.
