Tiger Tots

Our Tiger Tots Program provides a curriculum of structured learning where the children develop basic motor and listening skills. They develop social competence and self-confidence while having fun. Students are given lots of encouragements and progress checks to reinforce student success. Tiger Tots will become better students at school, better listeners and more ambitious towards the future.

Tiger Tots "karate" students graduate to children's class or "Junior Class" when they are ready to learn regular curriculum that leads to black belt in taekwondo. The Tiger Tots curriculum consists of developing  8 Major Skills that are important for participationin any sport, activity and reinforce family values. The folowing are the 8 Tiger Tots skills:

  • Focus - This skill will help your child's aim, listening skills and reaction skills. They will excel faster in any physical activities. Your child will also become a better listener and more focused student in school

  • Teamwork - Teamwork is necessary for any young child to develop. More confident child will work better with others and thus accomplish more.  Your child will develp character with teamwork, which will help make new friends and become a better leader in life.

  • Balance - This skill is crucial to develp at an early age.  Balance is very important in many physical activities that your child is beginning to participate.  Better balance also leads to better posture.

  • Control - Having control means making good decisions. They will learn to make the right decisons and behavior.

  • Memory - Earlier start in exercise is linked to better memory and a more active brain for a smarter child. Our drills constantly help children think and make smart decisions.

  • Discipline - We use drills to help create the vision that discipline is rewarding. Your child will take pride in doing the right thing and develop solid decision making abilities.

  • Coordination - Your child will learn left from right. They will become better in sports and activities while having fewer injuries with better coordination over their body.

  • Fitness - It is important for children to understand the importance of being healthy and physically fit. Our Tiger Tots Taekwondo program will teach that concept while becoming physically fit.

TIGER TOTS (4-6)

Children love learning at Shinn's Taekwondo in Lansing, MI. Our kids martial arts programs are high-energy, fun and interactive.

Our overarching goal here in the Lansing area is to build our students' self-esteem, which we can do by acknowledging, recognizing and rewarding not just our students' accomplishments and successes, but their efforts as well. Learning martial arts is a physical endeavor, involving all muscle groups to help develop a student's physical fitness. But our emphasis goes far beyond just learning physical moves and martial arts techniques.

We use martial arts as a mechanism to develop positive character and life-improvement skills in our students. Our program emphasis is on the personal-development aspects of martial arts, such as increasing self confidence, improving focus and concentration, developing self discipline, and optimizing physical fitness.

JUNIORS (6-12)

Juniors

Our adult students usually find that they cope better with stress, sleep better at night, work better during the day and just feel better overall. They also have a greater peace of mind due to the knowledge and expertise on what to do if faced with a dangerous situation. However, the greatest benefit of martial arts for adults is the increased sense of self confidence it builds.

All of our classes are individualized. Adults participate at their own fitness level while progressing in skill and technique. We provide an ideal workout for both men and women ranging in age from young adult to seniors.

TEEN & ADULT (13+)

Teen Adult

When participating as a family, we provide a unique opportunity for sharing in a non-competitive fun activity. Plus, parents have the opportunity to reinforce the life lessons taught in our martial arts classes at home.

Children learn to set short and long term goals and develop problem solving skills that will help them succeed in life. All students get and stay physically fit, develop better concentration, and more self-confidence all while having fun.
